30 OCTOBRE 2024 - La pandémie COVIC a généré un boom du homeschooling, l’école à la maison aux Etats-Unis avec un total de 4 à 5 millions d’élèves (8 à 9% des élèves scolarisés), ils n’étaient que 2,5 millions en 2019 ( 3 à 4%). Le pourcentage en 2022 est retombé à 7,6%. Un chiffre non négligeable imputable à d’autres raisons que celle du noyau originel (religion).

La formule des charter cyber schools a pris de l'ampleur aux USA, très critiquée quant aux performances académiques, mais qui répond à un nouveau besoin (sécurité dans les établissements, enseignement personnalisé). En homeschooling présentiel (tutorat, parents), la recherche atteste de résultats probants même si l’on doit les nuancer. On retrouve le même contexte en Europe, les raisons varient: moindre côté sécurité (heureusement pas de massacres de masse dans les établissements scolaires), identique quant à une certaine déception à l'égard du système scolaire.
